Valley Settlement House

About us

We are here to help parents raise happy and healthy children

We all need support through the most important period of our children: the early years

The Valley Settlement House was built in 1897 and is currently serving its present age. We are the oldest “Settlement” House in New Jersey and the third oldest in the United States. The Valley Settlement House provides an array of programs assisting our families in substantial resources. The Valley Settlement House serves the nearby communities in addition to Bloomfield, Maplewood, Newark and Irvington. We incorporate the High Scope curriculum in the classroom, building cognitive, cultural, emotional, and social bonds. Currently, 90% of the school’s population is equally divided amongst Latino, African American and Haitian background. Pride resides in the Valley Settlement House to have families of generations who speak highly of the outstanding atmosphere and future academic growth offered by our professional educators.
