Family Service Network

The network is a collaborate archetype designed to provide comprehensive services to families in our communities. The progam links community based social service agencies and programs which are designed to improve the social economic and educational conditions of the families of our communities.

Services provided:

  • Community Outreach/Awareness/Empowerment/Service
  • Family Breakdown/Empowerment
  • Literacy Development Referrals

Child Care

A comprehensive child care program that deals with the "whole child" and provides related services to the family. The educational curricula is child oriented and endeavors to draw upon the cultural life styles of the family.

The intent of the Settlement House is to serve as an extension, not a replacement for the home or cultural environment. Our objective is to utilize the resources of the community in helping our families to grow.

Pre-School

A Full Year Program - Open Daily 7:45 to 5:15
Serving children 2½ to 5 years of age.

The goal of the pre-school component is to provide a developmentally appropriate program which will foster the growth of our children in the following areas:

  • Socially
  • Emotionally
  • Cognitively
  • Physically

Summer Day Camp

An eight week summer program open daily 8:30 to 4:30. Eighty four children are enrolled annually. We have a 54 passenger bus and 2 vans to transport the campers. The program structure offers a combination of educaitonal and recreational experiences geared to enhance the overall development of each child.

After School Program

Activities include educational reinforcement, computer lab, arts and crafts, physical education and a variety of other special activities. Open daily 2:30 to 5:30 from September until June. Serving 56 children ages 6 to 13 years of age. The program has entered into a collaborating effort with local community public schools in order to meet the needs of our children with increased effectiveness.

Teen Night Program

Activities include:

  • Educational Motivation
  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Field Trips
  • Physical Education
  • Career Motivation

This program operates Monday/Wednesday nights during the months of October through June.

Kindergarten

The Valley Settlement House Day School is in operation fifty weeks per year. Open daily 7:45 to 5:15. Thirty-nine children can be serviced in this full day program.
